Mopping with a damp mop is another step that should be followed. Be sure to use a damp mop, not a mop that is soaking wet as water will damage the floor. Many people suggest adding vinegar to the water to help cut grease and grime.

Stubborn stains will require a professional cleaner such as oil soap. There are many brands available, so it is worth testing the product on an inconspicuous area of your engineered wood flooring in order to make sure it does not stain the wood or leave a residue behind.
